The Financial Accounting and Reporting Section (FARS) was created under West Virginia Code §5A-2-33. FARS is responsible for a variety of statewide functions including the preparation of the State’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), the accounting oversight and support of the West Virginia Financial Information Management System (WVFIMS), the oversight and preparation of the Single Audit Report, the oversight of the preparation of the Statewide Cost Allocation Plan (SWCAP), and the oversight for agency financial reporting utilizing an Ad Hoc Reporting tool. FARS is also responsible for a variety of departmentwide functions including budgetary and accounting services provided for various department agencies.
